UX
Editorial
Level was a distribution service for independent artists to release their music on all major streaming platforms.

With Level, users could distribute their music and reach listeners, globally across all major streaming platforms; users could access the service through its main pages, including release process, support, and content programming.
Writing and editing copy across channels meant dexterity between product language, narrative storytelling, and strategic messaging. Evolving copy through product launch, service changes, and major moments, my contributions intersected all touch points and improved the release experience for emerging voices.
The service performed as an online platform, with users delivering their releases through our multi-step yet intuitive process. In-product messaging, popups, microcopy, calls to action, and directives had to operate within restrictions, reflect accuracy and clarity, and incentive users to complete their journey. Including our Support pages, instructions covered how to withdraw earnings, upgrade plans, and meet guidelines, while avoided obstructions or friction for the user.
Independent artists highly valued autonomy and full ownership of their music. They responded to transparency, particularly around payment, sales, and rights. They also saw our Editorial program as aspirational — every release was considered for promotion across our social channels and other content consideration. With simple grounded messaging, we built trust with our users, who selected Level for ease and reassurance.

A resource for users navigating the platform, the FAQ addressed areas of confusion and provided insight to shared frustrations. Copy remained casual and approachable while communicating intricacies and common misunderstandings.

Level's social channels served as the most visible arm of our marketing efforts. The Instagram page maintained 25k followers and engaged with an active audience to promote platform features, updates, new artists and their stories, and relevant content. A secondary pipeline to our Artist Support, social engagement meant responding with users in real-time and encouraging interactions.
The Editorial blog was where Level’s greatest stories were shared: from artist profiles to news pieces that covered topics that mattered most to independent artists. Reinforcing Level’s position within the larger conversation, this content program brought value to our readership who gained advice on how to market their first release to sharing resources during the 2020 lockdown. The Blog represented Level’s editorial foresight and a record of impressive talent and contributors.
